O.K. for those of you who are following, I've received an email from the Resolution centre at Amazon, asking me to confirm the particular order. The story so far.

  • I ordered a par of CX300 II from a third party seller on Amazon (chrisp009), and I got a pair of CX300 ... no good.
  • So then I ordered a pair of CX300 II from bitteach. They were the CX300 II and they were fake. Now we're rocking!
  • I ordered a pair of CX300 II 2.5 (2.5mm jack version) by mistake. They are genuine, but the wrong genuine pair due to the size of the jack. Not good!
  • So I ordered a pair of what i thought would be genuine CX300 II from Amazon.co.uk. And they turned out to be exactly the same as the fakes, ergo, they're fake. Not good!
  • Emailed Sennheiser who confirmed the bitteach fakes, were fake, and they told me that the matter of the fake pair from Amazon, was being handled. Of course I haven't heard a word from them since!
  • So I emailed Amazon, they emailed me back to confirm, and I sent them links to the site, links to the forum and a load of links to separate images explaining what's what.

Update: see Amazon's reply email  http://www.fakeheadphones.com/forum/index.php?topic=285.msg979#msg979

I've received the wrong pair of headphones. These are the CX300 not the CX300 II earphones.

and here's what I wrote about on my forum

http://fakeheadphones.com/not-only-do-i-get-the-wrong-cx300s-but-the-cx300-i-do-get-are-fake/09/2009/

See the dates, this was over 3 weeks ago.

In  terms of the headphones I've received from amazon they were from this page

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B001EZYMF4/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

and here's a picture of my order.

To give you the full story, I set up fakeheadphones.com to combat the problem of fake headphones on the market. I know full well Amazon UK get their Sennheiser headphones from XXX XXX XXX XXX, or so I've been told from Sennheiser countless times, hence that is why i always say to my readers, "buy direct from Amazon and not a third party on Amazon."

I have purchased a pair from a Hong Kong Seller on ebay, they were fake as confirmed by Lynn Irvin from Sennheiser. However having dealt with fake headphones for the last 18 months, I knew full well they were, that's why i bought them .. to do a comparison.

When i do a comparison,. I always make a point of buying the genuine headphones direct from amazon, to guarantee that i have a genuine pair.

The issue is that I purchased a pair of CX300 II with the 2.5mm jack, by mistake, hence i purchased a second pair Directly from you guys 'Amazon' as i always do.

However , in every way, shape and form they, the headphones from Amazon are the same as the fake pair from China.

Picture: I always put the fakes on the left!

http://fakeheadphones.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/sennheiser-cx300-ii-genuine-and-fake-new-grills1.jpg

Again for example, I have the fakes here next to the genuine CX300 II 2.5 version. as you can see the cable isn't neatly packaged in a plastic bag, or even neatly packaged at all!

http://fakeheadphones.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/fake-and-genuine-sennheiser-cx300-ii-comparison-cables1.jpg

and this is the pair that you sold me. again as you can see the cables are packed in an untidy fashion as like the fakes.

http://fakeheadphones.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/sennheiser-cx300-ii-genuine-and-fake-new-ear-buds-out-the-box.jpg

both these images come from this forum post.

But the main issue and giveaway is the state of the ear bud holders. On fakes, they're always of questionable quality, as with your pair. In the Genuine/fake CX300 and CX500 comparison you can see the difference. once again the fakes are always on the left.

I look forward to hearing your reply, and so do many of my readers who like me, who are seriously worried about all this!

Kind regards

Just to let you know that I've got a reply from Amazon.

Thank you for providing that information, I have forwarded it to the relevant department within Amazon.co.uk for their investigations.

I would ask you now to return the suspected fake set of headphones to us and to include a note outlining your findings so that this set may be sidelined in our return center. Once we receive them a full refund will be processed back to your payment card used in this transaction.

To obtain a printable personalised return label go to our Online Returns Support Centre: http://www.amazon.co.uk/returns-support

Once again I thank you for bringing this to our attention, we are taking this complaint very seriously and we appreciate your cooperation.

Best regards

I have to say, like Sennheiser's email, I'm skeptical anything will come of it.
