THE SENNHEISER HD 238

Hello to all!

First i would like to say that i am not an expert in headphones. In reality those are my first headphones. I have only used in ear phones, but I get tired of them, cause they are always dirty, and i really need to try headphones.
My friend Matt – a big thanks to him - have recommended me the SENNHEISER HD 238, and I couldn´t be more happy cause they are fantastic. I can tell you that listen to my album collection - most soul, rnb, pop, jazz - had become a new experience. The BASS is incredible good, with an amazing sound quality.

So lets start with some pics:

Here are the SENNHEISER HD 238 still in the box and also the Image from the back cover.

With everything outside, you can see that they got a black woven bag so you can protect your headphones from dust when you are not using them. And this is a weak point, cause i rather prefer a strong case made of a strong material.
The Headphones were built with strong materials an with a good design being also light.
As you can see in the photos the head band has a soft leather covered, the same material was used on the ear cups. And here is a strong point of the HD 238, the COMFORT, yes they very comfortable, sometimes a forgot i got them on my ears, you can use them for hours without getting tired.

THE SOUND QUALITY:

As i have referred above they got a very good sound quality, but  its on my Ipod Touch that i take the most benefit from the sound, in my opinion these headphones where made to use with portable audio devices. Cause one thing that i have noticed is the lack of the 6.35mm adapter to plug them into my receiver. The connector is a standard 3.5mm jack.
Sound as a great detail, with an superb BASS i think they are ideal for home using when we are alone. And why? Well, this is without any doubt a controversial point: for some people it might be a positive thing and for other a negative. Cause this headphones came with an open back design, there is no sound isolation, so if you want to use them on a public environment all the people will be listen to your music even if you were using a low volume. But in other hand it could be good cause you can hear some sounds from the outside, for example if the phones rings you´ll hear it for sure Smiley

Conclusions:

In overall for the price £45.99 - on amazon.co.uk - this headphones are a great buy and you won´t regret. I am very happy with them and if you are looking for a rich sound, comfortable, light, headphones don´t look anymore SENNHEISER HD 238 is an excellent choice.

Positive Points  Grin:

They are very comfortable and light.
Incredible bass, if you like bass then you’ll love these.
Nice build quality.
Amazing Price.

Negative Points  Sad:

The back is open and bleed some sound.

NOTE: I had also bought the AKG 430, but they haven´t arrived yet so when i got them i will do a comparison with the SENNHEISER HD 238.

yeah, rather costly Sennheiser stuff here in Singapore.  Sad

my HD 228 and 202 cost S$99 and S$54 respectively. Plus my recently-bought PX200 II blew me S$125.  Undecided

i'm sure Sennheiser Electronic Asia can reduce it's price a bit lower to meet competitors' prices....or people in Singapore would just continue to listen using rubbish stuff like Skullcandy...

I wouldn't mind doing that. thing is, in Singapore, I don't think they provide warranty for Sennheiser products purchased from online places like eBay. The 2-year warranty is only covered to those who purchased from local retail stores (bearing a special sticker), or those purchased from Sennheiser Singapore themselves

That's interesting, but it also shows that Sennheiser Singapore are doing their best for their customers. Still, what a price to pay. Shocked

Of course, still not too happy about the pricing here (like the HD 25-1 II costs S$344, and the new PMX 680 costs S$99)

But as for the 2-year warranty coverage, I'm evenly satisfied. My HD 228 had intermittent failure 4 times, and they had it fixed pronto on the spot. Though some poor bloke who came to service his PMX 60, was denied any free repairs because he had thrown away the original box and lost the purchase receipt.

And in local IT stores, Sennheiser products are among the highest-priced and considered a niche brand. Bose is the only reasonable brand that costs more, while Sony is ridiculously overpriced. audio-technica has a one-year warranty, and cost less, but for comfort during listening...I'm not so sure. Though I have to say that the ATH-ON3 here are in-trend headphones for teens (they cost S$33).
